Third could be TMI, setting Munar orbit, picking out your landing zone and finally how to establish zero horizontal velocity over the decided LZ. Put that in one vid, then the launch/kerbin orbit/setting ap/pe and changing your inclination in another. Separate it into related bits like the building of the rocket and the theory and reasoning as to why you did what you did, including stuff that could be removed or changed in the case of not-so-novice viewers and the fuel issue. You'd probably be better off cutting it up into parts even if you don't want to. I know I just started posting here today and I'm fairly new to the game relatively (only about 4-5 weeks playing), but I'd be willing to take a look at it and give my input. I'd say about two weeks ago I made the jump shooting in the dark to being a sharpshooter after playing around hardcore for a day or so after looking up information and learning what I knew I needed to learn. It's hard to say without actually seeing the vid. Do you guys feel this is a good way to handle really long KSP videos or should I just upload 3-5 videos of this whole mission, or should I scrap it entirely and just do a new set of videos covering each part as a single thing all leading up to the Munar mission?Īny advice and thoughts on this matter are very much welcome as I hope to make the best KSP tutorial videos I can.Įdit: I should point out the videos are still on my hard drive and have not been uploaded anywhere, I'm looking for community input on how to make these videos as good as possible before I put anything out there.

So what I'm thinking is doing annotations at the start and links in the description to time stamps on each section so if you don't want to know about X or just want to see Y you can jump right to it. Now for some people a video thats near an hour long will be a too long didn't watch deal, and I don't really want to chop this into parts and upload 3-5 videos. I even leave in a few of my wtf moments and screw ups just to show how to fix them without scraping the mission and starting over. The problem I found is that the video is almost an hour long at 55minutes and 51 seconds after editing out unnecessary parts while still keeping the entirety of the mission to the mun intact so that a new player can follow along step by step. Now that's a lot of information but its all useful info for a new player who wants to go to the mun. (a sort of what did I learn from this kinda deal as I myself am no master of KSP, just what I would consider a fairly decent player with enough knowledge to teach KSP 101 to people.) How to make sure you land on the light side of the munĪnd most importantly how to get home without sending a rescue mission.Īnd at the end a section of afterthoughts on the mission where I fix some things I didn't like about my rocket after flying a mission with it. How to get to the mun from orbit around kerbin It shows gravity turns and why they are good for achieving orbit It shows how I built the rocket I use (which is honestly a bit over engineered but I wanted to make sure the new guys had enough fuel) So I recorded some video, (no voice over yet, hard to find time and privacy for that) Now what I'm looking at covers enough to get any first timer on KSP to the Mun provided I explain everything as I go. So I'm thinking, what the hell I've been at this for a while, I have a computer than can handle recording and video editing, I'll do some tutorials for KSP. Alright, so here's the deal over the past couple weeks I've seen 2 or 3 requests from players of KSP on this subreddit asking for mun landing advice and tutorials.
